33,000 fans fail to cheer Arsenal to victory at Stamford Bridge
33,000 Arsenal fans could not cheer Gunners’ to victory at Stamford Bridge, and watched their team sustain a 3-1 beating from the leading Blues.
Chelsea remain leaders in the Barclays Women Super League, while their performance against Arsenal gave coach Jonas Eidevall the following thoughts which he shared with Arsenal.com:
‘It’s a poor performance from us, we didn’t reach our standards.
‘We played against a Chelsea side that’s clearly set out to counter attack and we let them do that too many times in the first half and they’re very effective on those occasions and that creates a very difficult journey for us today.’
Though there was a restructuring of Gunners’ approach to the game in the second half, it failed to stop Blues from holding them down till the final whistle.
Chelsea’s three goals had been score in the first half, in it is safe to believe that the manager hoped for a better segment in the other half.
‘It was [an improved second half] but I still think when we look at it there are things there as well where we need to get especially our execution a little bit better in order to pose a real threat.
‘I think we played into a lot of situations in front of their defending line but were not punishing them enough in those moments.’
But Arsenal rule on the Premier League table by 64 points, trailed by Liverpool with the same number of points.
Arsenal female skipper Leah Williamson wrote on Instagram, ‘That support deserved a result! Masters of our own downfall today, not good enough! We’ll see you next week!!’
