Armando Broja speaks on team bonding ahead of Carabao Cup clash with Middlesborough

Chelsea skipper Armando Broja spoke to Chelsea’s press on the matter of forming a good bond between Chelsea’s new and old players.

His statement came following a nice contest against Newcastle United which saw Chelsea knock the team out of the Carabao Cup race.

Though ‘The Blues’ are nearer to the trophy now, Broja knows that lifting it finally is what matters.

‘We have said many times at the club, we are a new team, new staff and everyone is behind the manager,’ said Broja. ‘We are all trying to work together and gel together. It is not going to be easy straight away.

‘We have got a whole bunch of new players and we have got to get that rhythm and get that bond together.

‘It is not going to be easy and it is not going to happen overnight. People have to understand that.

‘Games like these show our spirit in the team and we stuck together and dug deep and got the result at the end of the game, which is the most important thing.

‘We have been playing some really good football. So hopefully we can keep going forward and this result will bring us more positive results.’

Chelsea will play Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. They will be traveling away for the first leg, which is scheduled to take place in early January.

Broja commented: ‘We have had a few unfortunate results but we are trying to turn it around, kickstart the season and push on forward.

‘I feel we have been sticking together and digging in deep.

‘Obviously we want to keep pushing for the league, which is the most important thing. But this competition is a chance to win a trophy and we want to win a trophy.

‘That is what Chelsea is all about. It is a good opportunity for us now that we are in the semi-finals.’
