Inter Miami coach Tata Martinez sounds disappointed by Lionel Messi’s depressing injury
Inter Miami started having a bad time since the absence of their most-valued player, Lionel Messi, commenced. Now coach Tata Martinez, whose job it is to lead the rest of the players to victory, might have unwittingly revealed his thoughts about the sad turn of events.
There have been worries concerning whether the Argentine player would play again in 2023 since coach Tata Martinez made it clear that Lionel Messi would not be pulled out of bed of rest until he fully recovered. The lineal GOAT collected a hitherto half-disclosed injury while serving his country in the 2026 World Cup qualifying contests.
Argentina had to drop Lionel Messi, a key member of their team, because of this injury. Since his return to his club in the United States of America, he has played only one game because of the injury. He had to watch Inter Miami beaten just after his return, and his seemingly-speedy reinsertion in the competing team in a future match saw him limp off in the first half, weighed down by his own body.
I know we have a final, but in no way will they step on the field if they’re not in conditions to do so.

Coach Tata Martinez might have broken his own word by bringing Lionel Messi out to play after promising he would not do so unless the player was fit enough. Another player that is also in the mean claws of injury is Jordi Alba. Both he and Lionel Messi are now on the bed of rest till further notice as Inter Miami continues to suffer depressing losses and worries about the future.
Recently, in the hope of having another powerful piece on Inter Miami’s side of the chessboard, Inter Miami’s co-owner David Beckham started making steps to sign Luca Modric, another veteran player. Reports reveal that Lionel Messi was the first person to set this ball rolling, having allegedly pointed that route to the club.
In answer to whether Lionel Messi would play again before the year runs out, Tata Martinez had this to say:
‘I think he’s getting closer to playing again. As we said, we’ll evaluate him tomorrow and Friday to see if he’s in condition [to play].
‘The most important thing is he’s leaving his injury behind and slowly discovering his best form… we’ll see what’s most convenient ahead of the next game.
‘I suppose just like Barcelona in their moment, PSG [Paris Saint-Germain] in their moment, the Argentine national team in their moment, why wouldn’t we miss having the best player in the world? Even when we win, we miss him.’
Inter Miami has lost vital points and seems to be a shadow of the club that won the Leagues Cup last season. The hopes of Lionel Messi’s bosses at Inter Miami are not becoming reality, and it would be a miracle for the club to lift any cup at its present speed.
Executives at Inter Miami will likely find it hard to risk Messi’s fitness further by convincing him to start working for his money, since the affected muscles need all the rest they can get for the soonest recovery.
It is now the case of putting all of one’s eggs in one basket at Inter Miami, since a player was given the hard job of leading the club to all its victories. A job no one man can do.
