Lionel Messi’s encouraging message to Inter Miami’s team
Following the sad end Inter Miami met recently by being knocked out of the MLS playoffs, Inter Miami’s super icon, Lionel Messi wrote on his Instagram wall to congratulate and encourage his team.
Messi faced a few weeks’ struggle with a leg injury that kept him watching from the sidelines as Inter Miami accumulated further bad results that saw them off of the MLS playoffs, after he returned from a service to his country with an injury souvenir.
When Lionel Messi scored the two goals that awarded Argentina their victory over Peru, it was normal to say that the 36-year old has recovered. Inter Miami’s coach Tata Martino was not in a hurry to include the player among those that contested with Charlotte FC, though, more interested in the player’s long-term well-being than in winning a match. Lionel Messi is an expensive player even at his twilight age, and one of the foolish things any manager can do is to endanger a player’s wellbeing whom the club pays a lot of money.
Amid the low mood the team will likely be facing at this time, especially because of the reactions of fans and rival bodies, Lionel Messi released a message filled with encouragement and a highlight of all the accomplishments the team has achieved lately which he thought was worth being remembered and celebrated.
‘I am proud of everything the team accomplished this season,’ Lionel Messi posted.
‘With everyone’s work and effort, we were able to win the leagues cup winning the first title in the history of Inter Miami, we reached the final of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and we were even fighting to get into the Playoffs of MLS until the last moment.
‘We are left with all the good things and above all with the desire to improve to be even more competitive next year. I would like to thank all the people at the club and the city of Miami for the support they always give us. I am sure that we will continue to live incredible moments together as has happened in recent months. A hug for everyone!’
Last season was clearly better than this season is becoming at Inter Miami, but as long as the good relationship between Lionel Messi and the players and executives there continue, and Messi is willing to play for the club, fans will see more nice performances in the pitch in the future.
