As fears of fan-zone backlash continues, Manchester United has taken steps to make sure the Red Devils have a united front.

One of the worst things that can happen to Manchester United at a time like this a disastrous internal division based on the opinions of women on the return of Antony Dos Santos.

The player was accused of violent treatments by three women, one of which is a high-profile figure. Antony just returned from Brazil his country on Tuesday, where he had gone by Manchester United’s permission to answer questions on the accusations submitted against him to the Brazilian police by Gabriela Cavallin his former partner.

On his return from South America, he willingly visited the Greater Manchester where the same lady had also reported him, to supply his own quota to the ongoing investigation.

Gabriela Cavallin accused Antony of pushing her out of a moving car, damaging her breast in-plant, and causing her bodily harm by throwing glass at her. Antony Dos santos has denied all these accussations, including the ones brought against him by the other two women.

Manchester United’s director of football, John Murtough and their chief communications officer Ellie Norman had a meeting with the women team recently to explain why Manchester United decided to return the player to the first team. What they said to the female squad might have something to do with what Manchester United’s official statement on their decision to end Antony’s leave of absence said.

‘Since allegations were first made in June,’ Manchester United had announced. ‘Antony has cooperated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.

‘As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

‘As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.’

Many think Manchester United is walking on dangerous grounds. This choice to carry their women along seems to prove they will live to tell the tale.
