Thierry Henry To Lead France’s Under-23 Team At The 2024 Olympics
Thierry Daniel Henry has been selected to lead the French Under-23 football team towards the coming 2024 Olympics. The football contests are scheduled to take place in France.
The Olympic Competitions would hold from 26th July to 11th August, 2024 at Antwerp, Belgium.
The 46 years old took to featuring in coaching roles after his retire from playing football in 2014, and has been an assistant coach for the Belgium football governing body.
From Jan 31, 2015 to August 2016, he managed Arsenal’s youth team in the wake of ending his football kicking role at MLS, the league in which Lionel Messi now plays.
Apart from coaching, he did other things like being a pundit for Sky Sports. Now he is also France’s U-21 team’s incumbent coach.
On 7 September 2024, his debut match as leader of the U-23 would take place.
It has been planned to take place in Paris, France. It would be in a friendly between France and Denmark. A contest with Slovenia is expected to follow four days later.
The French Football Federation released a statement, saying that this coming competition is very important to it. This was while talking about their decision to give Thierry Henry the task. By this, they seemed to affirm he is the best man for the job, and therefore was expected to deliver good results.
Henry brought glory to France in the days of his competitions in Arsenal and Barcelona, and assisted France to win the 1998 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2000, and 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup during his time. He has also won France’s player of the year award five times.
Henry would be expected to serve as a boost of confidence and an icon of what a winner should be to the younger French players.
The contest is expected to hold in Paris and other places in France that include Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, and Saint-Étienne.
