Gilbert Burns back, boasts against Muhammad
Gilbert Burns is back following his sad adventure with a bad shoulder which made him lose against welterweight challenger Belal Muhammad.
Burns (22-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) injured his shoulder at the early stages while facing Muhammad (23-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) in a bout recently.
It was not only Burns who had bodily troubles to nurse in the match, as Muhammad was sporting a wounded ankle too. Secondly, Muhammad was allegedly from Ramadan where he had fasted for a month.
Burns who is fully recovered had this to say about their fight which he lost unanimously:
‘One hundred percent me healthy, I would destroy Belal Muhammad, and I would get that win back. I don’t know if it’s going to happen right now, but it’s going to happen, and I’ll show everybody that I’m way better than him.
‘I’m clear, no pain, shoulder is moving good,” Burns said. “All range of motion is back, strength. I’d say anything March or April. UFC 299 or UFC 300, I’ll be ready to go.’
Some think Muhammad should be the one complaining of low performance instead of Burns because of the two things already stated above.
Going further in his statement, Burns said whom he would like to fight next.
‘I would love to fight Colby [Covington]. I still got to wait for a lot of things to happen, but I think Leon Edwards is going to get the win. But who knows when he’s going to come back or when either one of these guys is going to come back? That would be my No. 1 pick.’
On the other hand, Muhammad was happy to have won.
‘Thankfully, like I said, nothing crazy,’ said Belal Muhammad MMA Underground. ‘It was just, we pushed ourselves in three weeks.
‘We had to go full force right away. And I’m always an over-trainer, an over-worker, an over-thinker.
‘So, we started going full force at it. Stuff happens, but thankfully in the fight I felt good.
‘The adrenaline kicked in. Nothing happened, everything worked out in our favor. It looked smooth in there. It felt smooth in there.’
