Adesanya lost his UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland last September at UFC 293 after an underwhelming performance.

The promotion’s CEO Dana White was quick to say after the bout that Adesanya did not look like himself, voicing the thoughts of most unheard fans.

Following the unfortunate match, Adesanya decided to take a break from competitions, but is expected to be back this year.

Speaking to She Loves The Gloves for europop, Bareman said the following to disprove the famous belief that Adesanya lost his title because of too much bouts:

‘Israel can’t get burned out fighting three or four times a year. The issue is what’s happening between these fights. In my opinion, as a professional athlete, Israel didn’t do what he needed to do between those fights to not be burned out.

‘In order to remain a champion, at the highest level of our sport, you have to live a certain lifestyle, a lifestyle that reinvigorates you.

‘You have to be focused on your goals in the four to six months between now and your next fight, instead of waiting for the UFC to call with a specific opponent to start the preparation.

‘Israel will probably disagree with this and argue with me — he does that a lot — but I’m usually the one who’s right (laughs).’

Since Sean Strickland lost the title to Dricus Du Plessis on his first title defense, Adesanya’s return could be against Du Plessis.
