Khabib Nurmagomedov Recalls Bout With Conor McGregor: ‘Would’ve let him pass out’
Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed something surprising while speaking about his professional fight with Conor McGregor, including that he would have let the fellow superstar ‘pass out’.
Both fighters met at UFC 229 in 2018 for a bout, but not before McGregor had said several offensive things about Nurmagomedov.
It is believed by many that the latter’s religion was also brought into the pre-fight oral attacks.
Maybe this was why Nurmagomedov allegedly had no intention of releasing him when he finally had him in a crank choke.
Speaking to VK recently, Nurmagomedov replied as follows on whether he would have released McGregor if the referee had not intervened:
‘Would I have let him go? I wouldn’t have.
‘It was a moment when your emotional state is at its peak. Everything was fair. We both knew what we were getting into.
‘It wasn’t like choking someone on the street, he was one of the best fighters in the world. We had six months to prepare.
‘Would I have killed him? Probably not, but I would’ve let him pass out.’
It is now six years since both bulls locked horns in the octagon, yet the fight is still being talked about.
Do you think McGregor got what he deserved?
