UFC CEO Dana White speaks on Israel Adesanya’s court case, ‘Bad decisions, man’

Following the latest development concerning Israel Adesanya’s drink-driving charge, the CEO of UFC gave his opinion on the issue. Israel Adesanya recently pleaded guilty of the misdemeanour, and will be sentenced in January.

Dana White mentioned that the UFC megastar made a bad decision by driving while drunk. White went on to point out that Israel Adesanya had enough money to get a personal chauffeur, and that he could have paid for a taxi instead of taking the risk he took.

Many have started to wonder what was Israel Adesanya’s mental state before his faceoff with Sean Strickland, remembering how the former middleweight champion had performed below normal.

According to nutritionists who guide combat sports athletes on dieting, too much alcohol is wrong for a professional fighter. Some of them proceeded to call it poison – a view shared by many athletes in other sports. Any sportsman who wants to perform at optimum level should not eat certain things, and one of them is alcohol.

Though alcohol is used by some to reduce fear and depression, it has been found to lead many into making wrong decisions that caused them bigger problems. People are suspecting that Israel Adesanya might have been in a bad psychological state before the stunning upset. Dana White made no mention of this suspicion, however.

‘Bad decisions, man,’ said Dana White. ‘No matter how many drinks you’ve had – if you drink, don’t drive. Especially, it’s one thing, Ubering is easy, but when you have that kind of money that kid has, get a driver. Have somebody drive you or Uber or whatever.’

Israel Adesanya might be punished with up to three months imprisonment for this offence. Dana White hopes that, whatever happens, Israel Adesanya would not repeat this bad decision.

‘He made a bad decision,’ White repeated. ‘Thank God nobody was hurt. Him or nobody else. You know what I say about mistakes: How do you handle them after you make them? Hopefully, that’s a one-and-done for him, and he never does it again.’
