Wierd Love: fighter’s love for Donald Trump confusing to Leon Edwards
UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards is more than concerned about Colby Covington’s love for United States’ former president Donald Trump.
Covington and Edwards will meet in the octagon to prove who is more worthy of Edward’s belt, and Donald Trump is expected to be in the building.
One of the things Covington requested ahead of the bout was for Donald Trump to be allowed to put the belt on him if he won Edwards.
Covington was an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump during the Trump’s days in the spotlight.
Edwards reacted as follows while speaking to journalists recently:
‘I don’t know, I think the whole scenario is weird. That’s what I make of it. I don’t get the fascination with another man, you know? I don’t get it.
‘I know he used to be the president and stuff, but he’s no longer the president. I don’t get what’s going on. I don’t know.
‘It’s just weird, why he picked him just to be a character off the back of him.
‘I just don’t get it, and Trump will wrap nothing around his waist because he ain’t getting a belt.
‘Trump has been at his fights before when he’s lost. Trump can’t fight for him. He just needs to grow up and go get a girlfriend or something.’
Neither Donald Trump nor Colby Covington identifies as homosexual, and their relationship in the past has not led the wider public to suppose that the duo are anything other than fans of each other.
Trump’s presence during the bout would be normal in the UFC circle given that it would not be the first time. Covington has been having a hard time from American progressives who famously think that Trump was a bad president and must not be allowed to rule again.
Both fighters will faceoff on December 17.
