David Haye says Francis Ngannou can only win Tyson Fury by a chokehold
A former heavyweight champion is counting his beads in Tyson Fury’s favour towards the the match between former MMA artist Francis Ngannou and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. His statement could have led some to imagine that some in the boxing world are hoping hard that Fury would win.
According to his statement, professional boxing could lose some of its respect if Tyson Fury lost, but this does not mean he believed Tyson Fury might lose. It would not be out of place to say that the coming bout would be that between the practitioners of both sport, since their bests are going to be the contenders.
Also, Tyson Fury recently boasted he would best Francis Ngannou in the octagon after doing so in the boxing ring. Maybe he would do well to listen to what his supporter said about how things happen in the octagon.
‘Who could stop him?’ said Haye while explaining the only way Ngannou could win Fury in a fight. ‘If he puts a rear naked choke hold on Tyson, who can stop him?
‘He could probably kill him. Who could physically get him off? You’d have to shoot him if he chooses to do that, that’s how powerful he is.’
But another thing David Haye mentioned during the statement echoed what many are saying.
‘It’s heavyweight boxing, he’s never done any boxing, so it doesn’t really apply to Ngannou. At least Conor McGregor had some form of amateur pedigree. So that’s why he was able to maintain a few rounds. It looked like a legitimate match, maybe because Floyd allowed it to be.
Is he going to go out there and just dispatch him? Or is he going to tie him up, make him tired, hit him with some body shots and put on a show?
‘I think Fury is good enough to make it entertaining, or he could go out there like he did with Deontay Wilder the second time and just smoke him. I’d like him to drag it out 6/7 rounds, bust him up and show why there is a difference between professional boxers and MMA fighters.’
Many have said that a chance to punch unhindered at Tyson Fury’s skull would afford Francis Ngannou a win. There would not be an opening to choke Tyson Fury in the boxing ring, but there would be surely one to knock him out.
