The highly awaited faceoff between unified world boxing champion, Olexandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois ended in a controversial win for Usyk, after a highly-debated low-blow call by the referee. Frenchman Dubois’ blow had landed on the Ukrainian’s beltline, dropping the champion on the canvas.

Many concur the referee should have done a countdown as is done for those knocked down inside a round, but the referee instead gave the Ukrainian a 5mins recovery time given in situations of low blows.

Fury wishes to meet Daniel Dubois in the ring, since negotiations of a contest between Fury and Usyk has continually failed to bear fruit. From Fury’s statement, it can be gleaned that Fury desires to be the undisputable world boxing champion, but could not be that because of the heated negotiation always in the way.

So WBC boxing champion Fury, has taken to calling Usyk names and talking down at him with seemingly every chance he gets. Here is what he said Usyk did during the fight with Dubois.

‘He quit like a little b*tch and then moaned about it and cried about it,’ said Fury. ‘He’s quit once he’ll do it again.’

Explaining how the blow was a low one, the champion pugilist said, ‘Sometimes I have my shorts up high and the referee will say on the belt it is low, Tyson, but we all know that wasn’t a low blow. Usyk got beat fair and square.

‘Knockout with a body shot. It crippled him, and I feel heartily, heartily sorry for Daniel because he should be the unified champion right now and he should be on course to fight me for the biggest payday he has ever seen. I feel sad for him.’

Usyk has not replied since, and fans are wondering why. Does Usyk believe he tricked the referee? Fury made his own stance in the matter clear, voicing what many think.

“I’ve been boxing all my life,’ said Tyson Fury. ‘Two time world heavyweight champion. Second longest reining lineal champion in history and it wasn’t a low blow. It was on the belt. Anything below the belt is low.
