Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp had to rush to the rescue of Manchester City’s coach after a quarrel broke out between Darwin Nunez, a Liverpool player, and City’s coach Pep Guardiola.

What caused the squabble is not yet known, but it seems that something was said by one of the two during the post-match handshakes that was unacceptable to one of them.

The match, which was played at Etihad Stadium, saw City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold score once each for their clubs. After the tough battle on the pitch, Darwin Nunez was met by Manchester City’s coach for a handshake, but their exchange suddenly became hot, prompting Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp to become a fireman.

However, Klopp’s post-match statement was a beautiful one.

‘If we had played really well, we could have won,’ said Klopp. ‘This is a really tough place to come, and it is a not a coincidence they have won I don’t know how many in a row at home (23 in the league).

‘They are a super team. When we had our football moments, we immediately created (chances). Did we do that often enough? No. Can we play better? Definitely. And we will. But for today, this was a super important experience for the group.

‘It has been a tough week for the boys, and then coming here to play a game against a team that really makes you suffer is not cool. It is difficult to stay in the game, but we had our moments, and I like that a lot. It is a good point, and I am absolutely fine with it.’

A wonderful thing that happened after the heated conversation was that both Nunez and Guardiola were not reportedly angry or going on about what had happened.
