Legendary Roy Jones Jr. encourages Anthony Joshua
Roy Jones Jr. recently said who was going to win between Anthony Joshua and Otto Wallin, taking his place among the few encouraging the possibly-scared former heavyweight champion.
Jones Jr. was speaking to Action Network in the wake of Joshua’s surprising complaints.
Since losing his unified heavyweight titles to Oleksander Usyk, Joshua has said twice that he is suffering from heavy pressure. Furthermore, the Brit said that he was not enjoying competitions anymore due to what is being said before his bouts.
Many reports say that Joshua is no longer getting better at the sport, suggesting his retirement is on sight. It also seems that few believe he would beat Otto Wallin on December 23.
Roy Jones Jr.’s prediction was in Anthony Joshua’s favour, and included an advice for the former British champion.
‘Wallin is also a good fighter but AJ has got another gear in him that Wallin may not have. I haven’t seen enough from Wallin to suggest he can beat AJ,’ said Jones Jr.
‘I don’t think Wallin is a banana skin, I think if Joshua comes prepared he’ll be ok, but if he doesn’t come prepared then there’s a problem, like when Fury didn’t come prepared for Ngannou. But I am expecting Joshua to deal with Wallin.’
However, Carl Froch has rebuked Joshua for complaining, telling him to either man up and deal with the challenge or leave the sport.
Another fighter fans are warming up to watch on December 23 is Deontay Wilder who would be facing Joseph Parker.
Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder failed to seal a fight deal with Anthony Joshua this year, but many think the two might finally fight next year if they both won their opponents.
Here is Roy Jones Jr’s prediction concerning Wilder and Parker:
‘The biggest threat in either of those fights is Joe Parker because if he can figure out Deontay Wilder’s right hand, Joe Parker can really pull off the upset against Wilder, and because he has good boxing skills, he can be a real problem against Wilder who is very one dimensional.
‘He can be quite easy to deal with. Parker brings more jeopardy to Deontay than Wallin brings to Joshua because if AJ is right and his mind’s right, he’s a much better fighter.’
