Deontay Wilder reveals post-match chat with Joseph Parker
American former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, revealed his post-match chat with Joseph Parker, following their bout in which Wilder lost.
Wilder’s last match before the fight was a less-than-one-round match with Robert Helenius in which Wilder scored a first-round KO.
Following his contest with Helenius, however, the former champion spent months outside professional bouts before getting to meet Joseph Parker in the fight which ended in an upset.
While speaking to 78SPORTSTV following the underwhelming performance on his part, Wilder light-heartedly revealed that he and Parker had a friendly chat following the bout.
‘Parker said he ain’t never had a six pack until he knew he was going to fight me,’ Wilder disclosed.
‘He texted me and people don’t know that me and Parker have a relationship, he texts me.
‘He told me thank you for the opportunity for the fight, what a great fight and I told him congratulations bro, I hope you enjoy the win with your family.
‘We never had no beef with each other, we knew each other before all of this stuff, he’s such a nice man, he’s such a nice person.
‘If I would lose coming back to somebody it would be him ten times over, a thousand times over because he’s just such a nice guy.’
Two things Wilder’s surprising loss did were that his expected bout with Anthony Joshua is now harder to be realized, and that Wilder will possibly have a couple of professional fights before another title match.
