Otto Wallin talks about Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury
Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin talked about who would win between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, following his own defeat by Joshua on December 23.
Wallin whose side asked to end the match in the fifth round was once an opponent to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Two things Wallin did which affected expectations toward his fight with Joshua was his giving Fury a bloody brow that later required forty-seven stitches, plus that he faced the bigger man well throughout the rounds.
Wallin said the following to Boxing News after facing Joshua:
‘Well, I would say that this fight with Joshua was a lot tougher than the fight I had with Fury. It’s hard to say. I think that Fury’s a very good fighter.
‘Can probably pick it up from what he was doing in his last fight. It’s a decent fight. We’ll see what happens with Joshua now.
He might be on to something really good with Ben Davison, and Ben obviously knows Tyson. I don’t know. There’s a lot of variables.
‘I always said that Fury would win that fight, but now just being in with Joshua, I feel a little bit different. It’s hard to go against Tyson I think. But, I don’t know, it’s changed my mind a big after this fight.’
While some could argue that Wallin’s age and form might have played parts in his loss, Wallin did not consider he might have lost some sharpness.
‘He [Joshua] hit me with some good body shots. I’m always ready for that, of course, but I think they had a good game-plan,’ Wallin said. ‘I haven’t watched the fight, but he felt like a very good fighter. Obviously it was a much tougher fight than what I had with Fury.
‘He did really well. Maybe he’s found his home with Ben Davison.’
Joshua is expected to fight for another heavyweight title this year.
