Shawn Potter: ‘Tyson Fury has done enough in the sport to retire’
Former world boxing champion Shawn Potter once said that the Fury-Usyk bout would not take place, and has now added that the man has done enough to retire.
Following news from Tyson Fury’s training camp which said that the WBC heavyweight champion got injured while sparring ahead of the bout, things changed.
The undisputed world heavyweight title bout once scheduled for February 17 was shifted to May 18, and fans might have become more skeptical on the fight’s taking place.
Speaking to ProBox TV, Potter said:
‘There is nothing prophetic about me telling you guys that Usyk was not going to get in the ring with Tyson Fury, I just know this game, I know this sport, I know what I’m looking at.
‘I didn’t think it would be ’cause of a cut or anything, it is what it is. I told you the fight wouldn’t happen, especially on the date it was being sold to us.’
Potter also said that Fury’s ages and accomplishments might reduce the possibility of seeing the fight.
‘How did I know? I’m looking at a Tyson Fury who is a bit older, he has done enough in the sport to retire, today, yesterday. He does not want to get in the ring with a guy like Usyk and if he does, he is not going to do it until he is ready.’
Several public figures think the fight will not happen.
