Ryan Garcia Amid Bad Mental Health Rumours: ‘Praise Jesus, those who know the Holy Spirit will make a grown man cry’
Super-lightweight contender Ryan Garcia explained why a certain video posted on Instagram showed him crying, while rumours keep spreading about his mental health.
Garcia is preparing to face Devin Haney for the WBC super-lightweight title on April 20, but there are serious worries about his mental health ahead of the bout.
These worries pushed the NYSAC to request that he undergoes a mental health checkup. Garcia was not enamoured with the thought of that or the announcement itself, and has since threatened to sue the body for such a statement.
However, a video recently surfaced, showing the boxer where he was shedding tears. Garcia replied as follows via an X post:
‘Praise Jesus, those who know the Holy Spirit will make a grown man cry.
‘You shortened the video I was worshipping God on my TikTok live with my community.
‘I love God and you titled this as if I was crying due to mental instability.
‘I find it distasteful, and disrespectful to my beliefs. But again get your clicks and views. See you 4/20.’
Though his explanation sounds acceptable, his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions are siding with NYSAC concerning the health checkup.
