2023 Headies Awards: Burna Boy bags the ‘Song Of The Year,’ wins big in three categories
Popular Nigerian Afro-fusion sensation, Damini Ogulu who is best known as Burna Boy has breached a new dimension to win the Best Afrobeats Single at the 2023 Headies Awards with his song, ‘Last Last’.
He surpassed the likes of his fellow nominees “Rush” by Ayra Starr, “Buga” by Kizz Daniel and Tekno, “Finesse” by Pheelz ft BNXN, “Who’s Your Guy” by Spyro and “Asiwaju” by Ruger to emerge winner of the category.

The award ceremony which was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta saw the African Gaint win another vital two awards making him one of the highest winners of the night alongside Rema.
He won in the category of song of the year with his single, ‘Last Last’ and in the category of R&B single where he featured ED Sheeran in the song ‘For My Hand’.
Even though he wasn’t present to receive the award, he has been since then widely celebrated by Nigerians following his awards.
Amid the celebration, he is yet to accept and appreciate the Award category which is speculated to be the ego he has developed with the organisation since 2023.
