“I went to CSU to prove that Bola Tinubu was a liar”- Reno Omokri

Popular Nigerian Author and social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has said that the current Chicago State University, CSU, lawsuit against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before a US court would end in vein for Peter Obi and his supporters.

This was as Mr Omokri said that amidst speculations that President Tinubu did not attend the CSU as he claims, he (Omokri) is the only one who has visited the school in person to seek the truth, stating that he found out that the president actually got admitted, attended and graduated from the institution.

Omokri in a tweet Sunday, also said following the tribunals’ judgement, whatever evidence obtained from CSU or anywhere else would not yield any positive results for the opposition parties, PDP and LPs petitions before the Supreme court.

Recall that the presidential election Petitions Tribunal PEPT had ruled out all petitions filed against Tinubu by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP, challenging Tinubu’s victory at the 2023 presidential polls.

He said the hopes being nurtured, especially by Peter Obi’s supporters otherwise called “Obi-dients” are only delusional while calling public attention to threats of attack on him and his family by unknown callers who he says are supporters of Mr Peter Obi.

Omokri wrote: “I have again been recently inundated by attacks on my reputation and even threats to my safety and the well-being of my family by supporters of Mr Peter Obi, who, out of either ignorance or mischief, are misconstruing the current Chicago lawsuits on the subject of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records and alleging that it proves I am a liar.

“Nothing could be further from the truth.

“I went to Chicago State University on September 19, 2022 to prove that Bola Tinubu was a liar.

“Contrary to what I expected to find, I can confirm that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was admitted, attended and graduated from Chicago State University.

“Interested parties can contact CSU via +1 (773) 995-2517) or [email protected], to verify.

“This current case is NOT about whether Bola Tinubu was admitted, attended and graduated from Chicago State University. What Waziri Atiku Abubakar is asking for are his academic records.

“Such records would include the qualifications he used to gain admission, such as WAEC, GED, or junior college diploma, his attendance records, and his transcripts, etc.

“In this current matter, Chicago State University deposed to an affidavit that they do not retain students’ certificates awarded to them upon graduation. They also deposed that they have already provided academic records for Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu, certified by their counsel, Jamar C Orr, on July 6, 2023, and, which were tendered at the Presidential Election Petition Court.

“The only difference here is that Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s lawyers want Mr. Jamar C Orr to testify in court under oath.

“Now, no matter the outcome of this current case, it will not affect the appeal at the Supreme Court because you cannot tender new evidence at this stage. So, those hoping for a smoking gun are labouring under a delusion.

“Not one of these people floating these conspiracies has gone to Chicago State University. But I did. I went there to verify from the horse’s mouth. But just as Nigeriens prefer to believe that Buhari died and was replaced by a Sudanese clone named Jubril, they elect to believe people who never went to Chicago State University and are relying on conspiracy theories.

“However, even if it turns out that a female Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the one who was admitted, attended and graduated from Chicago State University (that won’t happen. But I am saying so for the sake of argument), it still will not affect the appeal at the Supreme Court. At best, it will be cannon fodder for social media influencers.

“When Mr Rufai Oseni, @ruffydfire, lied that Chicago State University had denied Bola Tinubu’s credentials on the strength of a subpoena, I told him as follows:

“It is in my political interest to lie and say Bola Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University. But I will not lie and say that a man did not attend a school I know that he did”.

“This was three months before the #NigerianElections2023. An election I honestly hoped Waziri Atiku Abubakar would win. Two weeks later, on December 6, 2022, in demonstration of that hope, I was protesting against Bola Tinubu at Chatham House.

“Was I supporting Bola Tinubu on November 22, 2022? What has changed from what I said and did between that time and now? Nothing. I am saying EXACTLY the same thing I said then. Other people have changed. I have not. It is just that Nigerians are a very emotional and easily excitable people.

“My stand has not changed. And I will not be bullied to change my stand. I will fight Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi because there is a possibility that there might be a rerun election. And if there is, I will fight tooth and nail for Waziri Atiku Abubakar to win it. But what I will not do is lie against Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi. And my refusal to lie against either man does not mean I have dumped Waziri Atiku.”
