Breaking: Tyson Fury reveals the ‘person that can beat’ him
In a podcast at Out Of Interest, the World Boxing Corporation (WBC) heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury revealed the only person who had what it took to beat him up.
Tyson Fury is still to be beaten up by any boxer, after claiming back his heavyweight title from North American Deontay Wilder. The Brit’s streak of undisputed and prolific wins is threatening to put him above lineal-heavyweight boxing king Olexandr Usyk, whose deception is becoming common knowledge among fighters and pundits alike.
In his recent fight with Daniel Dubois, Ukranian Usyk was dropped to the canvas by a contested low blow. An event which brought Usyk’s sly practices to the limelight. It was revealed that the boxer had a bad practice of pulling his shorts up too high, thereby disqualifying legal body shots as low blows. Tyson Fury has been looking for a way to knock out Usyk and become the undisputed world champion, but their negotiations have always ended in sour dispersion.
‘[My] toughest opponent is my own self,’ Fury stated in the podcast with Out Of Interest. It is no secret he sees Olexandr Usyk as below his level.
‘Every single time. The only person that can beat Tyson Fury, is him himself. Mentally,’ claimed Fury. ‘The toughest battle I’ve ever had is mental health. You never, ever defeat it. You can never win against it. Ever.’
Fury’s resounding victory over Wladimir Klischtko for the WBC heavyweight title was followed by a struggle with the forces of suicide. At that time, the fighter gave himself over to cocaine and alcoholism, searching for a way out of the alleged depression that was eating him up. He lost his belt because of adverse findings in his body-fluid sample, and took a long time to get himself back together.
There are fears his depression might be returning in the wake of circumstances connected with his next fight. The heavyweight pugilist will face Francis Ngannou, a known dangerous puncher, in a professional boxing event at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on October 28. Fury’s life is highly-tied to his title, and loss of the title might be disastrous for him.
According to him, here is how to deal with mental health problems: ‘Small short term goals, a structured routined lifestyle, fitness and health, working out and stuff, and just living one day at a time. Eating well, drinking well, and that’s about it really.’
