Former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch gave his prediction on the outcome of a bout between new boxer Francis Ngannou and former WBA, WBO, and IBF champion Anthony Joshua.

In his statement, Froch, who still believes that Francis Ngannou beat Tyson Fury, pointed out why he thought Anthony Joshua would defeat Francis Ngannou if some ongoing moves in the heavyweight division ended in a contract being signed by Joshua and Ngannou.

‘The Anthony Joshua-Ngannou fight is interesting – something I’d want to watch,’ began Froch. ‘But I don’t think he’s ready for it yet. One I don’t think AJ’s ready for it yet.

‘He might go in there, outbox him and beat him because he’s an Olympic Champion, he’s showed us time and time again how good he is, but since the Ruiz fight we’ve got question marks over his mentality.

‘Ngannou I think needs to be given the opportunity to go in there with Fury again. If Fury jumps in straight with Usyk – a fight I want to see – there’s too many question marks over his fight with Ngannou.’

Then he picked Anthony Joshua as the would-be winner somewhere down the road.

‘I’d have to pick AJ to beat Ngannou,’ Froch announced. ‘Ngannou would be making his second professional boxing match, and Anthony Joshua’s a tidy, quality fighter.’

The former pugilist was not 100% sure Anthony Joshua would win, though, and later made a less-hopeful prediction.

‘But there’s that mindset there that if he goes in thinking ‘bloody hell he’s gone ten rounds with Tyson Fury and a lot of people think he’s won’,’ Froch added. ‘If AJ’s head’s not right, and think his last two or three fights will get his head right for the Ngannou fight, for me it’s a 50/50 match.

‘I’d like to say Anthony Joshua beats Ngannou, but to be honest, the closer that draws in, Ngannou gets more sparring, the confidence of the Fury fight. Who knows, it could go either way. But Anthony Joshua beats Ngannou, I’ll say it, for the sake of professional boxing.’

Meanwhile, Shane Fury recently said his brother Tyson Fury might have worn out, as was guessed.

Tyson Fury’s being knocked down in the third round of a bout with debutant Francis Ngannou is yet to be left in the past, as fans, pundits, and athletes wonder whether WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was getting weak or whether Francis Ngannou was really tough.

In his statement, while saying what he thought of his brother’s loss and form, Shane Fury said, ‘Listen, it was a combination of a lot of things.

‘It was a combination of having twelve months out of the ring and having your trainer with you, trying to put your bad habits right that you have learnt in the last ten months, and the man [Ngannou] being a lot better than what he thought he was going to be.’

He then later added, ‘Realistically, that might be Tyson now, I am hoping not but at the end of the day he is 35-years-old and people go overnight.

‘I’m hoping that’s not Tyson because you see him much different in the gym, it was chalk and cheese, I’m hoping that’s not the case.’

Whatever the case, Tyson Fury must train hard to beat lineal heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in the undisputed world heavyweight championship bout that must take place before April. If not, Tyson Fury might end his career in bigger disgrace following being knocked down by Francis Ngannou in the third round of their contest on October 28.
