Deontay Wilder wooed by deadly heavyweight

Deontay Wilder’s loss to Joseph Parker on December 23 has not stopped one of the greatest heavyweight boxers from asking him for a match.

Wilder walked into his bout with Parker as the favourite, but surprised his fans by a worrisome loss.

Though Wilder later announced through his social media account that he would be back, he gave not specific time frame.

However, Chinese boxer and WBO interim heavyweight champion Zheilei Zhang is trying to show him the way back. Zhang proposed a bout.

‘I was not aware of the fight until I spoke with my team yesterday,’ Zhang said. ‘When it comes to Wilder I give him all the credit in the world. He’s such a great fighter. He got the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics.

‘When he turned pro he had all these magnificent knockouts and is a great fighter. I open my arms to a fight with Wilder and that would be a great bang for the sport of boxing.

‘I would say yes to that fight right now. The ball will be in his hand pretty soon so let’s see what comes up’

Wilder’s reply is yet to come.
