Hall of Famer Tim Bradley might have unwittingly given Francis Ngannou facts to work with while talking about the coming fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Francis Ngannou.

UFC superstar Francis Ngannou is not the favourite going into the boxing ring on October 28 for the contest between him and WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

Pundits and other enthusiasts are not giving Ngannou any hope of winning the bout, but boxing legend Mike Tyson seems to believe in the MMA artist who is set for his professional boxing debut. It will not come as a surprise if Mike Tyson has started plotting a strategy with his team on how their amateur student can use Fury’s now publicised weaknesses.

‘He [Fury] boxes in a lot of straight lines and he’s been boxing in a lot of straight lines recently,’ revealed Tim Bradley during his prediction of who was going to be the winner between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. ‘If you go back and you watch him against [Deontay] Wilder, watch the first couple of rounds and you will see that when he is stepping back, he is stepping back in a straight line [multiple times].’

Tim Bradley competed from 2004 to 2016 and held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the WBC light welterweight title. He was born on August 29, 1983, in Palm Springs, CA. He is 5’6 tall and weighs 140 lbs. The fighter has made a significant impact on the sport.

While making the above statement, Bradley said how such weaknesses can be exploited: ‘If he [Fury] continues that, you’re going to see Usyk follow him out, he’s going to be looking to follow him out because his feet are not set, he’s not punching, he’s just stepping back and trying to get out of range.’
One of the traditional weaknesses of present boxing heavyweights is their tendency to allow themselves to get punched. While it might not be too harmful for the likes of Tyson Fury because of his body size and physical strength, it could be for the likes of Oleksandr Usyk if a weightier man like Fury lands a full blow anywhere on the body. One of the problems Bradley found out was that Oleksandr Usyk’s respectable footwork will be a great asset in the fight and a major dagger to Tyson Fury.

Bradley went ahead to show how Tyson Fury’s body size and movement will become a great disadvantage when fighters like Usyk are involved.

‘You’re going to see Usyk attacking his body a whole hell of a lot, because he [Fury] is so tall, so big and it’s not like he crouches down and tucks his elbows in to block shots, he tries to get his whole body out of the way,’ he went on to say.

The only thing of value that Francis Ngannou seems to be bringing into the ring this weekend is his knockout power. It is a settled matter that the MMA artist’s punch is able to knock most people out in the first round, and John Fury, Tyson Fury’s father, once joked about having to sew his son’s head back on if Ngannou was able to land a certain kind of blow. But Matchroom owner’s son, Eddie Hearn, recently argued that Fury will win Ngannou in the fifth round and would not have any trouble with Ngannou’s powerful punch combinations.

‘Another thing Bradley pointed out was, ‘[Fury’s] pretty slow on his feet, Usyk is a little bit quicker and to the point, with his footwork, Usyk’s going to be looking to expose his body, one, and he will be looking to catch Fury on the way out [of exchanges], in those straight lines.’
