Johnny Nelson doubts Tyson Fury’s shameful claim
Johnny Nelson has indicated he did not believe that Tyson Fury trained as well as he claimed before facing Francis Ngannou on October 28.
Nelson’s statement implied this while he was speaking to Pro Boxing Fans recently ahead of the undisputed world heavyweight championship bout which will feature Fury and Oleksander Usyk.
Johnny Nelson is a former British professional boxer turned boxing analyst. He competed from 1986 to 2005 and held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) cruiserweight title from 1999 to 2006, making him the longest-reigning cruiserweight champion in history.
Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury was not impressed with his son’s performance against Ngannou, the boxing debutant who knocked down his heavyweight champion son in the third round of their ten-round match. John Fury also said that his son’s performance was declining.
Nelson said, ‘It’s time, you can’t do nothing about that. It might not be popular to say it but if [Fury’s] own Pops is saying it, and one thing I will say about John Fury, is that he will always speak the truth. He’s a straight-talking man. If he’s saying it you have to listen to him.’
‘But Tyson Fury, if he puts his sh*t together, he still beats everybody. His last performance, if he’s honest about what he said, then his legs are gone. If he wasn’t honest, I think he can turn it around.’
‘But if he doesn’t fight February 17 then we have a problem. Because if his dad’s saying it now, it gives you a sense there might be a delay, they might want more time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to push it down the line a bit.’
