Lineal heavyweight predicts winner of Wilder-Joshua faceoff

One of the lineal heavyweight champions has said who he expected to be the winner if Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua met in the ring this year as was planned.

Wilder and Joshua were two co-lineal heavyweight champions and were expected to face each other for a test of strength and skill and the unification of the heavyweight titles; however, the two kept fans waiting till they both lost their belts to Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Since then, Wilder, who was the WBC heavyweight champion, has yet to lift any of the four belts in the division, including Anthony Joshua, who held the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.

Speaking in a YouTube video recently, the incumbent WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk predicted who would win the fight between the two past champions.

‘It would’ve been a phenomenal match,’ said Usyk. ‘Wilder’s unique—if he clips, one is unable to fight back. I’m going with Wilder on 60% for the contest.

‘He’s a puncher and Joshua could be set on. Deontay’s able to send someone flying when he touches them. They usually have the flight.’

Though negotiations to have the two compete against each other this year failed, they are expected to meet in the ring next year for the long-awaited bout after facing a fighter each this December. Deontay Wilder will have to get through Joseph Parker, while Joshua will be dealing with Otto Wallin. This is scheduled to take place the day before Christmas Eve.
