Teddy Atlas reveals Oleksandr Usyk’s Batman asset
Oleksandr Usyk will face Tyson Fury on February 17, and Teddy Atlas has revealed a Batman asset he expects to help Usyk become the undisputed world heavyweight champion.
Trust in Tyson Fury’s ability to dominate Usyk has substantially decreased lately following Fury’s underwhelming bout with debutant Francis Ngannou, who not only knocked him down in the third round but nearly deprived him of a win too.
Though Teddy Atlas was strongly behind Usyk before Fury’s bad performance, he gave the following statement in an interview that took place after the bout:
‘How do you go against Usyk since he won the gold medal, unified the cruiserweight titles, stepped up to heavyweight, won the titles?’
‘Everybody was checking the boxes of all the advantages that Fury had over Usyk.
‘He’s bigger; he can fight on the outside; he can fight on the inside. Everybody loves Fury. From the beginning, before this, I can’t go against Usyk.
‘I love Fury. Very well-rounded. And he had an off performance [against Ngannou], maybe mentally he wasn’t quite ready. Fury thought it would be easy.’
Atlas seemed quite sure that the shorter and smaller Ukrainian ‘The Cat’ had what it took to overcome Britain’s ‘The Gypsy king’.
Going further while speaking, Atlas mentioned one ‘asset’ Batman is mostly known for, which is how to win an opponent, saying that was the only thing those claiming that Fury would win were not considering.
‘I can’t go against Usyk, because there’s one box nobody’s checking,’ Atlas said. ‘Yeah they’re saying the other guy’s got the jab, can box, he’s the bigger man.
‘Usyk has one asset that he’s always had. You know what it is? He knows how to win.’
Oleksandr Usyk was once asked what he was going to do to win Tyson Fury since the Brit was bigger. Usyk smiled and said he was not going to say it since Sky Sports might leak the secret to Fury.
