Tyson Fury advice to Joseph Parker ahead of Deontay Wilder fight
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, a former opponent of Deontay Wilder, publicly gave his sparring partner Joseph Parker advice ahead of Parker’s bout with Wilder.
Tyson Fury, the man who dethroned Deontay Wilder from his WBC heavyweight throne by a serious trilogy, gave the advice while talking to a Sky Sports journalist.
‘I can give him a tip: stay away from the right hand. That’s as good a tip as anyone needs when fighting Wilder,’ Fury replied in answer to what advice he would give his friend who was going into the ring to face Deontay Wilder.
Wilder is known as the hardest puncher in the contemporary heavyweight scene, and Tyson Fury got an unfair share of the pugilist’s punches during their faceoff. Wilder struck down Fury several times but failed to win.
During the interview, Fury emphasised that staying away from Deontay Wilder’s right hand was the most important thing someone facing Wilder should be told. Whether Fury gave this advice for humorous purposes or not will remain unknown, since the advice itself could be hard to follow.
Deontay Wilder’s prediction concerning his bout with Joseph Parker is that he will knock Parker out.
‘I like Joseph; I don’t have to get mad at him and find things to come at him with,’ said Wilder. ‘You already know, knockout! In my head, I’m look at 3 to 4 rounds, in my head I see that.
‘But you never know, but in my head that’s how I’ve got it going. I’m not going to force anything; I’m just going to do what I do best, but in that fight, it’s going to be a knockout.’
Former WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will face Otto Wallin at the same venue and date. Wallin is one of the heavyweights that have given Tyson Fury a bad day in the ring, having famously left him with wounds that were later sewn up.
