Tyson Fury meets Francis Ngannou following record bout: ‘He’s a big fella isn’t he?’
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury met former UFC heavyweight champion and one-time opponent Francis Ngannou at an awards giving ceremony recently, just months after their historic fight.
Both men signed a fight contract that won the audience of combat sports fans last year, and had a match which saw the WBC champion knocked down in the third round of their ten-round bout.
Though Tyson Fury went ahead to secure a controversial split decision win, many still think the other man was the real winner. One outstanding reason usually given by those who believe this is that losing to a debutant could have affected Fury’s undisputed world heavyweight bout with Oleksander Usyk.
However, Ngannou promised never to compete in the boxing setting thenceforth till after his rematch with Tyson Fury. That promise was to be broken this year through a contract he signed with Anthony Joshua who had beaten Otto Wallin on December 23.
Since Ngannou and Fury have huge tasks facing them, both are still concentrating on preparation for their opponents. Ukrainian southpaw and lineal heavyweight champion Oleksander Usyk will be facing Fury on February 17, while Joshua and Ngannou are to lock horns on March 8.
While at the Joy Awards lately, Ngannou and Fury met and shook hands. Fury was captured on video saying, ‘He’s a big fella isn’t he?’
Ngannou was smiling in the background.
