Ngannou was arguably the king of fighters at the UFC, but has not earned more than four million USD in his entire career there. Now he stands to make more money that he could have made all his life at the UFC, if he had continued there, in just one fight.

Recently, his manager spoke about the contract, revealing the same thing that took fighters like VanZant to Only F*ns in an attempt to make more money with their image.

This is life-changing. This is exactly what we planned and visualised so we’re happy … He would have had to fight, even by being champion, multiple times just to be in this ballpark.

After Francis Ngannou rejected a stunning offer worth $8m from the UFC, he decided to join the Boxing world by debuting in a fight many think is above his weight class. Though the general opinion tilts towards his defeat, it supported his decision after hearing what transpired between him and Dana White, the UFC president, and how much the fighter stood to rake in from the much-awaited debut.

‘In that contract, I’m not free,’ explained Ngannou while talking about the last contract him and the UFC ‘In that contract, I’m not an independent contractor. In that contract, I have no rights, I have no power.

‘I hand over all the power to you guys, and I’ve seen in the past how you can utilize that power. I asked for a lot of things, which doesn’t mean I was expecting all of those things, but I expected at least one or two of those things. I asked for a right to sponsorship, which we’ve been ripped of, we can’t have sponsorship. I asked for health insurance, which we don’t have, and I asked for somebody in the board meetings, a fighter advocate.

‘I couldn’t have that stuff that I asked for, but I just wanted to know that some stuff that I do want would at least be in consideration. They said, “no, we don’t do business like that.’

His opponent, Tyson Fury, has only praise for Ngannou’s decision to ditch the UFC.

‘Everyone said he (Francis Ngannou) was an idiot for walking away from the UFC,’ said Fury. ‘And now all of a sudden, he’s a genius, isn’t he?

The guy’s about to make $10,000,000. Come on. Egg in their face. Francis is about to make that bag. Rich.’

Yes, Ngannou stands to make that much from just a single fight. He will make more in subsequent bouts if he wins this one.
