Man Utd: Coach Erik Ten Hag says accused Antony Dos Santos could play against Galatasaray
Erik Ten Hag revealed once again that Brazilian player Antony dos Santos might feature in Manchester United’s match with Galatasaray. Antony returned before Manchester United got beaten by Crystal Palace, but it seems the accused player has to train more.
Three women are accusing Antony of unjust violence, and investigations are ongoing in Brazil and the United Kingdom on the matter. Manchester United recently had to bring Antony back from the leave of absence he was given by the club.
According the the statement released by Manchester United while announcing their decision to give him the leave, the club wanted the player to concentrate on answering for himself concerning the unsightly allegations the women brought against him. The club also stood in the way of a backlash in those days, since even the player’s country removed him from their team following the accusations.
Antony will be in consideration but yesterday was his first time back in team training. We have a final training, then we’ll make a decision.
– Erik Ten Hag.
Antony had to visit his homeland to answer the authorities there concerning the charges, and had a five-hours meeting with the Greater Manchester Police at his return, before the club decided to add him back to the first team. These steps were taken to show the club did not support domestic abuse and acts of unjust aggression against women, and that Antony himself was taking the accusations serious and doing all he can to speed up the investigations.
There are still concerns, however, that the section of the community displeased with Antony’s reinsertion into Manchester United’s team might cause a noise. The last thing Manchester United needs now is to add public backlash to the harsh season they are having, after losing too many matches this season.
Gabriela cavallin who is Antony’s former partner accused him of doing some nauseating things, two of which were damaging her breast implantation while acting violently towards her, and pushing her out of a moving vehicle. She also alleged that the player who is still in his early twenties broke at least two of her phones. Antony Dos Santos has strongly denied the accusations of the three women.
Coach Erik Ten Hag seemed to be testing the waters when he was announcing whether Antony would play against Galatasaray or not.
