United currently has several injured players, the latest of whom are Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will not also be playing for some time.

In reaction to the rumours that criticized his training methods, the Dutchman said that he believed that his boys were not training too hard.

Whatever Ten Hag meant by that is yet to be verified, since he added that the level of the league affected how much training he was giving them. Could it be that he was making them work too hard because he wanted better results than they continue to give, or is there something wrong with Old Trafford that makes players get injured during both home and away matches?

‘The standards in this league, you need to be fit, otherwise you can’t match the standards that are required in a game,’ he said. ‘We don’t train too hard.’

When he was spoken to about getting the service of a fitness coach, he replied as follows:

‘No, we have good departments. We have good people around with a lot of knowledge, based on data and we make our decisions.’

Many have criticized Ten Hag’s way with his players, while United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking for another coach.
