Deontay Wilder reveals secret ahead of December bout
American pugilist Deontay Wilder disclosed one of his opponent’s secrets ahead of their bout, which is scheduled to be held on December 23.
Wilder did this while talking to Sky Sports News after it became clear he was going to be facing Joseph Parker, a friend and sparring partner of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury previously issued public advice to Parker, telling him to stay away from Deontay Wilder’s right hand in the course of their faceoff, knowing the feel of the hard puncher’s blows himself.
Fury had an unfair share of the punches during their trilogy bout, in which Wilder lost the last two. Deontay Wilder, who was relieved of his WBC title in the process, is travelling back to the top and has beaten two opponents since then. Many think he will beat the third one.
Speaking to Sky Sports recently, Wilder revealed that Parker will not be able to stay away from his right hand.
‘I know one of his [Parker’s] strategies will be to stay out of the way of the right hand,’ said Wilder. ‘The main thing about it is it is going to be enjoyable to be in the ring with him. He is going to come and try and pressure me. But I am going to get you and when I get you, goodnight.’
Deontay Wilder alleges he has a grudge against Joseph Parker.
‘I think after coming to one of my fights in my hometown he [Parker] decided to not give me that opportunity so I am going to consider this a little payback,’ claimed Wilder. ‘I have a little something to get off my chest, but once I release it in the ring, after that we can all go home, be with our families and shake hands.’
