While we mourn her sudden loss and pay our last respects to the dead, we hereby charge security operatives in Ekiti State to investigate and bring the perpetrators of this grave crime to book” adding that they had visited the morgue and “no part of her body was mutilated contrary to claims and rumour flying around.
The students vowed that “just as police had made some arrests. We will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice.”
Earlier, the Police Commissioner in Ekiti State, Dare Ogundare, said that “the Command will do everything possible to unearth the identity of the perpetrator(s) and ensure they are made to face the full wrath of the law”.

The statement added, “Ten suspects are currently in custody undergoing investigation.
“The CP has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of one Atanda Modupe Deborah, a 200 Level Nursing student of FUOYE, who was declared missing within the school premises on September 5, but found dead in a shallow grave at a distance of about 30 meters behind the Nursing Lecture Hall”.
On its part, the management of FUOYE confirmed the incident in a statement by the University Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, and released on Wednesday evening.
Ibrahim stated that information reaching the security outfit of the university was that the said student had died.
