Armando Broja: ‘How Chelsea beat Preston North End’
Chelsea’s Armando Broja who scored the first goal during Saturday’s match between the Blues and Preston North End said how his team were able to win.
Chelsea beat Preston North End by four goals to nought following efforts by four players: Broja, Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernandez.
When the match ended, Armando Broja said the following to Chelsea’s press on how the team was able to achieve the still-being-celebrated FA Cup victory:
‘We’re really pleased to go through and I think in the end it was a good performance from us.
‘We struggled a little in the first half to get going, we struggled to break Preston down and fair play to them, they were defending very well.
‘Second half, we made some adjustments and got the ball into wide areas and I think as soon as we got the first goal, it opened up the game and we managed to take advantage of that and we’re pleased with the result and the performance.
‘I was really pleased with my goal, I thought it was a good header. I just wanted to make sure I got myself into the box to be in the right area.
‘With Misha and Malo linking up down the left, I knew they’d provide me with the service. Malo did that, it was a great delivery and I’m just glad I was able to head the ball beyond the goalkeeper and get the goal.
‘I’m really pleased to score and hopefully that will give me confidence going forward to score more.
‘Whether I’m starting or coming off the bench, I want to help the team by scoring goals so hopefully I can go on a bit of a run now and I’m just really excited and happy to have scored and helped the team to a big win.’
The Blues look forward to meeting Middlesborough next in the Carabao Cup campaign, and Fulham in the Premier League race.
Chelsea is presently 17 points behind the Premier League top people, Liverpool.
However, the Londoners have been very successful in both the Carabao Cup campaign and the FA Cup race.
