Mauricio Pochettino speaks on Cole Palmer following hat trick
Chelsea gaffer Mauricio Pochettino shared his observation of Cole Palmer’s performance after the player scored a hat trick against Manchester United.
‘One of his best skills is his mentality and his capacity to deal with the pressure,’ said the coach. ‘He’s young, it is his first season playing very consistently and I think it is amazing the way he deals with the pressure.
‘That shows he can be a very good player. Looking at his performance today it is impossible to say that he’s not a top player, but there’s still a lot of room to improve.’
Palmer who scored a penalty kick in the first half and proceeded to land two more during the last minutes of the match said the following during the post-match interview:
‘It was a crazy game. To go from 2-0 up to 3-2 down was a bit of a blow, but when we scored in the 98th minute we knew there were two more minutes – we saw the gaffer say it. I looked over when I scored. We thought, let’s go for it.
‘I didn’t know what to do when I scored, but I was buzzing. My first hat-trick. It’s my first one and I’m really happy about it. It was madness at the end.’
