Former Liverpool player lashes out at refereeing officials
In the wake of the second apology the Premier League’s refereeing body (PGMOL) gave this season, they are still facing different kinds of criticism from all manner of football fans.
The recent match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur which ended in a controversial loss for Liverpool is the present talk of the day in Premier League’s circle.
Amid calls for the sack of the referees whose hands were in the bad decisions that still surprises people, the PGMOL opted to deal with the case in a more human way by suspending the guilty officials from a number of matches.
Referees Darren England and Dan cook have been disallowed from officiating in a soon-coming matches they should have worked in, and might be kept away long enough to pacify the greater number of people. The only group that will never be satisfied seems to be supporters of Liverpool, who saw their team of nine players denied a much-needed goal; an official’s mistake which brought the club a heartbreaking loss.
Speaking on the issue, Liverpool’s favourite, Jamie Carragher lashed out at the England-Cook decision, calling it horrendous and unprecedented.
‘I don’t think the feeling about VAR has been lower. It’s at crisis point. It’s not just this decision – it’s on the back of other incidents this season, like the Wolves one with Manchester United on Monday Night Football.
‘I don’t want to pile into the officials or Howard Webb – they must feel awful. I’m not into the conspiracy theories – no one gains anything from this. We’ve all made mistakes. But this is a horrendous mistake, unprecedented.’
There are no talks as to whether the unjust final scores of 2-1 could be righly changed to 2-2. If England and his co-referee, Cook, had done better, 2-2 could have been the final result.
Mohamed Salah also failed to give Liverpool a win over Tottenham, amid rumours he might leave for Saudi Arabia soon.
He will likely be sold if his presence starts to look inconsequential to Liverpool.
