The right-back who wears number 27 for the London Blues was instrumental in their stunning and emphatic win at Villa Park on Wednesday. Not only did the Frenchman score, he also assisted.

After losing by a big space to Liverpool and later to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea comeback against Villa which is currently number 4 on the Premier League table was remarkable. From the 11th spot, the Blues beat Aston Villa by three goals to one.

‘The mentality today all together was very nice and that’s why we won,’ Gusto said in a post-match interview published by chelseafc.com. ‘The most important thing is the collective performance, to keep this mentality to keep moving forward and win everything.

‘We were very happy to show this mentality during the game. For sure we have to show more, to show a great mentality, to show our talent, because we are young and we know we need to improve in front of the fans.

‘The group is young, we just have to stay all together, we just have to work all together to keep a good mentality to become better players and that’s what we did last night. We need to just play together, just keep moving forward and we are very happy to win this one.’

But fans might be left thoughtful by one thing he said: that Chelsea’s match with Aston Villa might have been their best game for the season.

‘We are very happy to win this game. It is very difficult to win there against Aston Villa but that is what we did, so we are very happy.

‘I was very happy to do that assist for Nico, but the most important thing was the collective win. That’s what we worked for during the week in training, to keep the ball and move the ball quickly and that’s what we did.

‘I don’t know if it was our best game of the season, I would just say we are very happy and I hope we win more games and keep this mentality.’

Since their head coach Mauricio Pochettino is clearly building a new team at Chelsea, it is expected that all the hills and valleys the Blues have been through will bring out the best in them.
