Man Utd: Erik Ten Hag comments following journalists ban
Manchester United’s head tactician, Erik Ten Hag, spoke recently following his astonishing ban of several journalists.
The ball was set rolling after these news sources reported that Erik Ten Hag was losing support in the club’s dressing room. Something the coach thought was not rightly publicised.
According to the official statement given by United’s spokesman in the wake of the reports, those journalists who revealed the dark story had not contacted appropriate figures for a better understanding of the state of things.
Those news outlets will no more be given audience at Manchester United or allowed into its premises till further notice.
While speaking to other journalists in the wake of the several bans, Erik Ten Hag tried to dispel all doubts as to whether there is serious division in the club between the coach and most of the playes, or between the players themselves.
His example was the last match between Manchester United and Everton in which the latter was beaten by three goals to nil.
‘Oh yes, I am sure, you can see for instance the comeback against Brentford, the Burnley game, the Fulham game, every time the team is there, showed great character, great determination, resilience so we are together,’ he said.
‘You can see you can’t play such great football as we did recently without unity… There are always players who aren’t playing who are less happy.
‘But there are no issues. If the players have a different opinion, I will listen. But they haven’t told me – maybe one or two.’
Now knocked out of the Carabao Cup contest and being among the last on the Champions League points board, the club’s 7th place in the Premier League looks seriously bad. This is upon the fact that it looks very unlikely that the club would lift any trophy this season.
Some other things the coach said were, ‘Not in the dressing room. Of course there are a lot of rumours but it is not that we get distracted by it. We are on a journey, a route.
‘We know we are in transition but we are in the right direction, we construct a team, develop it, the team is progressing, young players coming in and you see the potential how they can contribute to a successful Manchester United team for the future.’
The number of people saying he should be relieved of his duties seems to be more than that saying he should be giving more time. It is normally said that why the Dutchman is still working at United is his ending of the disturbing trophy drought the club was recently experiencing.
However, after statements from several past players and prolific pundits, it is really hard to say that the coach’s days at the club are not numbered.
