Coach Erik Ten Hag alleged that Marcus Rashford is unhappy, following the player’s inability to deliver more than one goal in the club’s last seventeen matches.

The Englishman’s presence has been largely unnoticed on the pitch lately as the Red Devils keep struggling to either lift a trophy or finish in a respectable place this season.

Manchester United suffered a lot of things this year, which can bring setbacks to any club. These things include Brazilian Antony Dos Santos’ being accused of domestic abuse, which possibly reduced his potency on the pitch; Jadon Sancho’s deadlock with Ten Hag, which keeps Manchester United lacking one of its most valuable players; and the infamous administration spearheaded by the owners, the Glazer brothers.

One question many have is whether Manchester United will bounce back and have a better season. Coach Ten Hag recently announced it was possible.

‘I think we often proved we can, like at Fulham, Brentford, this team can overcome big setbacks. It’s about the end result and we have to win every game, so we are very disappointed,’ Ten Hag said. ‘Finally, it’s about the end result and it’s always about a process, thinking about it and then managing the process, which is what I focus on.’

All eyes have been on two people to change the club’s position on the points chart of all competitions for good. One of them is Marcus Rashford, and the other is Erik Ten Hag.

‘I think he’s not happy, we are not happy,’ said Ten Hag of Rashford recently. ‘We have expectations, he has high expectations of himself,” Ten Hag said about Rashford’s start to this season.

‘At this moment, he is not in his best form. But I know he will be back. I know when the team is playing better, he will play better, he will score goals. I am confident of that.

‘This season he will improve and score goals, he’s totally in the team and aware on everything. He will be back on track. That can happen very quickly. Sometimes you need only one game, I’m sure he will get there.’

There are rumours that this coach will be relieved of his services if the unsavoury trend of losing more matches than they are winning continues.

However, former Manchester United player Paul Scholes attacked the idea not long ago, saying that the club should stop sacking coaches as they have been doing. The Englishman suggested that the Dutchman should be given a longer time to find out what is wrong and fix it.

Echoes from Manchester United’s dressing room suggested that players are divided over the coach’s management, with reports of his alleged favouritism having been discussed in the past as one of the things the players dislike about him. Moreover, the coach has been accused by outsiders of being too strict, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic once drew attention to the tactician’s seeming lack of dexterity in leading big players.

Manchester United fans will have to wait for the next matches before deciding whether it is right to expect a good result in the end.
