Manchester United says Antony will resume training in the club, amid domestic-Abuse investigation

Manchester United have decided that defamed winger Antony will return to training at Carrington as investigations continue. The player was recently given an indefinite leave of absence so he could focus on defending himself after his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, accused him of unsightly domestic violence.

This news was released by Manchester United following the bad results the team kept getting at competitions and the stiff deadlock between coach Erik Ten Hag and another winger, Jadon Sancho.

Gabriela Cavallin first reported Antony in Brazil because of the alleged abuses and proceeded to report him to the Greater Manchester Police. Though Antony denied all the charges brought against him, Gabriela Cavallin alleges she has witnesses she can invite.

No statement has been released, either by the Brazilian police or the Greater Manchester Police, saying the accused was found guilty. Manchester United also stated that Antony has been cooperative with the police up to the time the statement was given.

During the time Mason Greenwood was accused of domestic violence, Manchester United did not let him compete for the club but allegedly paid him his full salary. It seemed they would follow the same procedure in Antony’s case too, but it seems the club cares more about goals now than about the feminist backlash that might follow their current decision.

Here is the surprising statement from Old Trafford:

‘Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has cooperated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.

‘As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

‘As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse.  We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.’

How do you think the public will react to the situation?
