Poor Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino unhappy to miss his wedding anniversary following Premier League’s 24th December fixture
The Blues’ coach Mauricio Pochettino announced he was unhappy after the Premier League scheduled a match between Chelsea and Wolves to take place on Christmas eve. His wedding anniversary will be hindered by the unsavoury fixture.
While venting concerning the issue, Pochettino said, ‘Our supporters are not happy? Me either. I’m not happy also because [December] 23rd is my anniversary with my wife and I need to travel to Wolves and I’m not going to spend the night of the 23rd in my house.
‘I believe I am not going to convince her to come [to Wolverhampton]. And the 24th for Argentinian people is a really important night and [I] hope to arrive to celebrate on time after the game.’
Chelsea Supporters Trust want the match to be rescheduled.
‘It is totally unacceptable that Wolves v Chelsea as been scheduled for Christmas Eve,’ the group stated. ‘Since rumours began to circulate on this issue, the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust has been clear that selecting this kick-off time will place another hurdle in the way of many matchgoing supporters.
‘Not only could this lead to staffing issues at Molineux but holiday transport timetables will further inconvenience supporters. On Tuesday 24 October, we requested an urgent meeting with the relevant decision-makers within the Premier League.
‘We expect that this meeting will be held very soon, alongside the Wolves 1877 Trust, and the Football Supporters’ Association. The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust will formally quest that the Premier League properly consults supporters on this issue and that they reverse this decision.’
Mauricio Pochettino thinks it would be hard to change the fixture.
‘It is difficult because it is not easy to change,’ he added. ‘We have to accept we are in England. I need to adapt myself and even if I am not happy I need to do my best to be in our best level and accept this is a situation we cannot change.’
