Raheem Sterling: ‘The more you win the more confidence the group has’
Raheem Sterling was speaking about Chelsea’s bounce back when he said that victory increases confidence.
The Englishman won a penalty kick for Chelsea in their last match with Fulham when Issa Diop brought him down in the box.
Cole Palmer who received the honour of executing the penalty sent the ball to the goalkeeper’s right-hand side while the keeper dived hard to the left.
This became the only goal scored during the match, and the reason Chelsea presently has the record of not being defeated in their last five league matches.
Speaking to Chelsea’s press the day after their victory, Sterling said the following:
‘It can look nervy at times but the more you win the more confidence the group has, the more the fans are behind you and you can relax and see the football come out a bit better.
‘That’s what it takes, we just need to keep winning, keep building that momentum and little by little you can see the improvement.
‘That’s what we know the fans deserve and that’s what we need to keep doing, keep building on these things and keep trying to win.
‘We know what we need to do, keep working and keep winning games. That’s what’s expected at a football club like Chelsea.
‘It’s another step in the right direction and another three points that we can build on. We’ve got the fans behind us here and that gives us the belief.’
