Belgian player Romelu Lukaku is being desired by Italian club Associazione Sportiva Roma (AS Roma) after he was rejected from Chelsea’s selected squad by new coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Chelsea player still has three years contract with Chelsea, but Chelsea is minded to let him go. This is because of his unsatisfactory performance and the huge salary the club has been mandated by the contract to continue to pay him.

It is crystal clear that Romelu Lukaku himself prefers to leave the club too.

After talks with Inter Milan failed because of Lukaku’s mysterious silence and his lawyer’s, Inter Milan has gotten offended and ended their hunt for the 30 years old. According to inside sources, the player and his lawyer had been reticent when calls and messages were coming to them by the club.

News of this strange behaviour was going around at that moment, but in all this, the player did not reach out to the club or to his own club for the talks to continue. Some speculated that it could be that the conditions of the transfer were unacceptable to both the player and his lawyer, and that the two men chose to use their silence as a way to make Inter Milan accept a certain term or the other.

Later the player, who is among the world’s ten highest paid football players had suddenly appeared from thin air after the Italian club had recanted their request for his services in their team, saying he was willing to go with the club. But the unhappy representatives said they were not interested anymore.

Jose Mourinho is still serious about bringing the rejected player to AS Roma, no matter what has happened. One of the reasons some teams would think twice before making a deal with Chelsea in pursue of Lukaku’s services is his age. But there are players older than him playing all over the world whose teams would not be keen to let go.

So why is Lukaku’s case different?

It is the issue of his performance in the recent past. Chelsea had loaned him out because they had no need for him and needed another club to join in paying the expensive player’s salary till his time was up. After his loan period had exhausted and he was back, the club still would not let him play in any of their matches. Rather, they are now making mutual efforts with him to get him to where he would be better welcome.

Messi joined MLS, Ronaldo went to Saudi Arabia (and there have been speculations that Lukaku might end there), and Sterling has gone to Chelsea. Each is doing well in their new clubs because they like the environment and the crew they would work with. It is likely that the bad air that has developed between Lukaku and Chelsea because of his unsatisfactory performance has caused rifts that necessitate a mandatory separation.

whatever Jose Mourinho saw in the estranged player is best known to him and his administrative crew, and it is likely that the player’s delivery would improve in the good weather of a better relationship.
