Rumours of Manchester United’s disunity emerge

John Barnes said recently that Manchester United’s disunity is why the club is behind in scoring goals though they have big players. This started rumours or fuelled them, bringing to mind that Erik Ten Hag spoke a lot about unity during interviews last year.

There were three players Barnes talked about, two of whom collected big salaries but do not perform as expected. They were Sancho, Varane and Casemiro.

Jadon Sancho signed a five-year contract worth £65,000,000 with Manchester United. That earns him £13,000,000 monthly and £250,000 per week. His contract with Manchester United is set to expire on June 30, 2026.

Carlos Henrique Casemiro signed a four-year deal with United for £72,800,000, and is paid £10.5 million as salary. He earns not less than £18,200,000 annually at the club, and his contract with the club expires on June 30, 2027.

Raphaël Varane himself receives £17.68 million annually at Manchester United as salary.

Barnes said the following recently while speaking to Sky Sports:

‘Both are great players so the fact their moves haven’t worked out the way they wanted doesn’t mean they aren’t great players. The harmony and the togetherness of the team is still an issue at United.

‘United have to sort out their internal issues. They are all great players but it just hasn’t worked out.

‘Look at Jadon Sancho. He’s a fantastic player but it just hasn’t worked out for him. It’s not necessarily an individual’s fault whether you’re talking about Varane, Casemiro or Sancho.

‘It’s a question of the uncertainty at the club. Once they solve those issues like Arsenal and Liverpool have done in recent years, then United will be a stronger force in the future.’

Barnes’ full name is John Charles Bryan Barnes MBE. He is a Jamaican-English former professional football player and manager, and is often seen as one of the greatest English players of his generation.

Barnes was a left winger and had successful campaigns at clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United. He often comments on Sky Sports to provide analysis and commentary on various football activities. His experience as a former player make him important to the coverage of football.
