What Chelsea learnt from last match with Manchester City according to Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea’s head coach Mauricio Pochettino said what his men learnt from an away match (Chelsea versus Manchester City) played earlier this year which had ended in a draw (4–4).
Fans see Chelsea as the underdog ahead of the match, not just because Chelsea occupies the tenth place on the Premier League table while Man City holds the second position, but for the number of matches both sides have won and lost this season.
Though the London Blues posed a hard nut to crack at Etihad Stadium during their last meeting, it would be orderly to imagine that in-form City would not let that be the story once again.
Speaking to Chelseafc.com on what his team learnt from their first meeting with City this year, Pochettino said:
‘I think the lesson is that we are going to face a very, very good team,’ said Pochettino. ‘They are one of the best in the world.
‘But at the same time, you need to be brave and try to force them to defend, to run back, and to their own goal. If we go there and wait to see what is going to happen, they are a team that can dominate and make you suffer.
‘The most important thing is we realise the need to attack. After this, we need to be able to run and work together. There are some tactical questions we need to be aware of, but the most important thing is to be brave and challenge them.’
Clearly, fear and resignation is the last thing Chelsea wants to do at Manchester tomorrow. Pochettino had an important point.
