Wigan likely Ten Hag’s last opponent at Manchester United
Manchester United warms up to face Wigan on Monday, but a lot seem to depend on the match because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover of hirings. The match could be Erik Ten Hag’s last as United’s manager.
Manchester United holds to the FA Cup campaign by the tip of their fingers, their coming clash with Wigan being able to end their hope altogether.
A former player of Liverpool in the person of Mark Lawrenson argued that Sir Ratcliffe could have no choice but to sack the coach if United lost that match.
‘After Manchester United ’s lacklustre performance against Nottingham Forest, if they lost to Wigan, Erik ten Hag would have to say, ‘thank you but no thank you’, because that’s the worst result possible for them, no disrespect to Wigan,’ Lawrenson said.
‘With Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he’s gone through five managers at OGC Nice. With Manchester United, there are so many other things as well – the roof needs fixing, they will be selling people in the January transfer window, and the club needs a major overhaul, so what does he do? If Ten Hag loses at Wigan, he has to go – it’s become a laughing stock.’
Though the relationship between Ratcliffe and Ten Hag looks good, this match might change things very fast.
